Nobody should ever leave their pet alone in a locked car. It’s dangerous to their health, after all. But another danger to keep in mind, as fantastical as it sounds, is the fact that a smart enough animal could take the car on a joyride. That’s exactly what happened to one driver in southern Florida, who left their dog unattended in the car with a running engine. To the surprise and horror of this person’s neighbors, the car began to move in reverse — and did so for almost an hour. Police and firefighters eventually arrived at the scene and let the dog out of the car, so nobody was hurt in the end. Only a mailbox suffered any damage, so we can assume the dog had some kind of grudge against mailmen. Typical.

Dogs should leave the driving to humans and stick to something familiar — like a scooter!
