Thank you to everyone who has already given today. The momentum you have shown on Giving Tuesday invigorates our shared mission in support of local farms, community food access, and a sustainable food future.
If you have not donated yet today, you can still get us to our goal! We need to raise $35,000 by December 31 to keep farmers markets and our food assistance programs thriving in the New Year. As we face a long, dark winter and another wave of the pandemic, farmers markets continue to provide essential lifelines between local farms and families. I am given hope by our farmers and food makers who show up for us every week, and by all of you who show up for them, rain or shine, with smiles behind your masks and genuine care in your hearts.
I am bolstered by our hardworking team, here on the frontlines at 5 a.m. to set up the market safely, so that our community has access to fresh, local food. As our Market Operations Manager Tommy Phung says in the video below, “Even when our farmers and shoppers are social distancing and wearing masks, we feel like we are all in this together.”
Please know that whether you give $10 or $100, every dollar matters. Your gift ensures that small sustainable farmers can have safe access to markets while they do the essential work of feeding us. Your gift provides free produce boxes for unemployed hospitality workers, and Market Match benefits for families in need, so they can put healthy food on the table. Your gift means students in our Foodwise Teens program will grow up with life and job skills to contribute to a healthy, resilient, and climate-wise food future.
