Where's Johnny Jet?

Aloha! If you're following me on FacebookInstagramTwitter, and/or Periscope, you know that my wife and I are back from Hawaii! We had an amazing trip (babymoon, actually) and I have plenty of photos to share from the new Four Seasons Oahu and the transformed Four Seasons property on Lanai, as well as some fun shots from our Flytographer photoshoot (like the one above!) We also spent a night at one of our favorite Waikiki hotels, The Modern Honolulu. Here are 10 reasons to stay there.

Manhattan Beach and LAX tips
Natalie and I made it back home just in time to catch the 4th of July festivities down at the beach. I played volleyball with friends in the beach volleyball capital of the world: Manhattan Beach. If you haven’t been and have a long layover at LAX (four hours or more), I highly recommend you visit. Here are my tips. If you want some tips and tricks for better navigating LAX, here’s a commercial I shot for them.

Military send-off
I’m a day late sending this newsletter because one of my great cousins just died in Los Angeles, and Natalie and I attended the funeral. He lived until 91 and was an amazing guy who loved family, food, wine, gardens, California, Alaska, and his birth island of Ischia in Italy.

He was in the Army when he was 18, so the military had two uniformed soldiers to send him off in honor. I was so impressed. One played "Taps" while the other stood at attention. Then together, they did the flag ceremony, folding the flag that had draped my great cousin’s casket and presenting it to his wife. Frank lived an amazing life, and there wasn’t a dry eye at the cemetery. The experience reminded me of the fallen soldier who was once on my flight, which you can read about here.

Scottevest: Great travel clothing
Be sure to check out our sponsor’s clothing line! I’m sure you (or your favorite traveler) will love their multiple hidden pockets, which not only keep valuables safe but can also act as extra carry-ons! I'm a huge fan and use their products every time I travel. Here’s the link to their innovative website.
