AUSTIN, TEXAS: The Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa has curated an array of holiday experiences to get its guests in the spirit, including a breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the on-site restaurant Texas Spice on Dec. 10, 17, and 24. The property will also be hosting a Golf Fore Good initiative Dec. 1-24, where guests who play on any of Barton Creek’s golf courses can turn in their scorecard at the pro shop, and for every birdie or eagle scored, the resort will donate meals for a family of four to Central Texas Food Bank. Participants who score a hole-in-one will have 20 meals donated in their name. Additionally, hotel guests and locals alike are invited to the Holiday in the Hills Lights Trail, featuring glow-in-the-dark mini golf at Santa’s Magical Toy Shop, complete with caroling, cocktails in Jim Bob’s Lobby Lounge, and live entertainment courtesy of Austin musicians.
CHICAGO: The Windy City’s annual shopping extravaganza, dubbed the One of a Kind Holiday Show, returns to The Mart for its 21st edition Dec. 1-4. NEW YORK: On Nov. 9, Astoria welcomed Figlia to the neighborhood, an Italian restaurant featuring neo-Neapolitan pizzas from a custom-built oven. The concept was courtesy of restaurateur Riccardo Dardha–who’s also behind New York’s Bread & Tulips—and the menu is helmed by longtime baker and chef de cuisine Ariel Villegas. Other food and beverage highlights include a grilled octopus antipasti served over herbed beans, rigatoni bolognese, pappardelle with braised leg of lamb, and a full bar program with a wine list featuring small producers (and bottles all under $100). The recently opened Good Ground Tavern—situated inside Hampton Bays’ Canoe Place Inn & Cottages—has released a fall menu courtesy of chef Ülfet Ralph. On it are seasonal specialties like pumpkin seed hummus, beef or lamb skewers, butternut squash pizza, grilled carrots and skillet mushrooms, and more. The Good Ground Tavern will also serve a Thanksgiving prix fixe, four-course dinner in partnership with Main Street Hospitality on Nov. 24. Reservations for seatings from noon-8 p.m. can be made by calling the restaurant or online through Resy.
