President Trump's announcement that US firms could continue to sell to Huawei caused concern among some lawmakers, and the administration scrambled to justify the move. Sen. Marco Rubio said it would be a "catastrophic mistake" to loosen restrictions on Huawei. Apple's chief design officer, Jony Ive, may have only just stepped down but he has been increasingly hands-off his role, according to The Wall Street Journal. Ive rarely showed up at the office, and was reportedly troubled by the fact Apple staffed its executive ranks with people from finance and operations rather than technology. Apple CEO Tim Cook took the rare step of rebutting the Wall Street Journal's report on Ive's departure. In an email to NBC News, Cook said the report's conclusions "don't match with reality." Documents obtained by Motherboard show how Amazon Ring and other firms collaborated with law enforcement on a package theft sting operation. The idea was to plant packages by front doors and catch thieves red-handed but the sting didn't result in any arrests. The deadly poison sarin has been detected in a mail facility at Facebook's Silicon Valley headquarters, prompting FBI involvement and reported evacuations. On Monday, routine tests for sarin detected the presence of the substance in a mailbag at the social-media tech firm's offices, a Menlo Park Fire Department (MPFD) official told Business Insider. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 10 next month, after announcing an Unpacked launch event for August 7 in New York. This is the phone maker's first major phone launch event since its Galaxy Fold debacle in the spring. Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos' $38 billion divorce settlement is set to become official this week. MacKenzie Bezos will receive a 4% stake in Amazon, roughly equivalent to $38 billion. Facebook's "Libra" currency will cause immediate tax headaches for its European users, who will need to keep track of every transaction they make and pay the right tax on any capital gains they make. The Financial Times spoke to lawyers who said the tax problem would create an immediate barrier to widespread adoption. Girlboss CEO and Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso has unveiled her firm's latest venture, a LinkedIn-style professional network for women which encourages them to show more personality with their profile. Users join for free and have the chance to ask questions on forums about anything broadly related to work, productivity, or wellness. Asian phone maker OnePlus spooked users when it accidentally sent out a push notification saying: "Ha ha ha ha ha!" in Chinese.
