1. EKOenergy consumers finance 11 new solar projects |
EKOenergy promotes sustainable renewable energy in various ways. Through the use of EKOenergy-labelled renewables, we raise funds to finance renewable energy projects in developing countries. These projects fight energy poverty and contribute to multiple Sustainable Development Goals. With the help of an independent jury, we have recently selected 11 new solar energy projects for financing. These projects will bring clean and reliable energy to disadvantaged communities in 11 countries, for example to health centres in India, Kenya, and Malawi, to farmers in Gambia and Nepal, and to schools in Congo and Pakistan. The combined cost of the new projects is 315,728 €, bringing the total sum of Climate Fund grants this year to 425,728 € (grants made in 2022). Check out our website for more information about the newly selected projects or see the map with all the 79 projects that we have financed since 2015. |

3. We are a partner association of RE-Source 2022 |
EKOenergy is a proud partner association of the RE-Source conference this year too. RE-Source 2022 takes place in Amsterdam on 6-7 October. RE-Source focuses on the latest developments in sourcing renewable energy, with particular emphasis on PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements). It's one of the biggest gatherings of corporate buyers and clean energy suppliers, offering plenty of opportunities for learning, discussions and meetings. Did you know that it is possible to combine our ecolabel with an existing or new PPA? Do you want to know how EKOenergy can help you increase the positive impact of your renewable energy choice? Or maybe you want to complement your EKOenergy-labelled PPA on one location with other EKOenergy-labelled renewable energy solutions on other locations? Let's meet at RE-Source! See more about RE-Source 2022 and register here. We are looking forward to seeing many of you there! |

4. Video gaming industry can fight the fossil fuel bosses! |
The gaming ecosystem has a huge potential to show leadership by cutting down its use of fossil fuels and encouraging others to do the same. With our EKOpixel campaign, we call on the gaming sector to “level up” its choice of energy by switching to renewables. Using 100% clean electricity is technically possible, economically viable, and is increasingly available anywhere. See our newest EKOpixel campaign materials to learn about how EKOenergy can help you fight the fossil fuel bosses! "IEA’s 10-Point Plan to Cut Oil Use would lower global oil demand by 2.7 million barrels a day within four months. But one month was already wasted by governments, who do little to nothing to curb the addiction of their economies to fossil fuels." Stand With Ukraine Campaign, open letter ahead of the G7 Meeting |

6. EKOenergy on social media |
By following EKOenergy on social media, you get relevant updates about the climate crisis, renewable energy and EKOenergy's activities worldwide. Here are some recent posts: Greetings from the Helsinki pride. To address the climate crisis, we need a vibrant democracy, based on respect and involvement! Everyone is welcome, everyone is needed! #Workingwithpride (on Twitter) We keep on giving the same message every day, every year: It's time to switch to renewables and even go beyond that. We can make an extra positive impact on our climate! (LinkedIn) Reminder: save energy! Every kWh counts! For your wallet, for the planet, and for world's peace! (on Twitter) A new study "Low-cost solutions to global warming, air pollution, and energy insecurity for 145 countries" shows that almost all countries can get 80% of their energy from wind, solar, and water by 2030. And the full 100% can be achieved in the years thereafter. (on LinkedIn) We went with the train to Mikkeli, Finland, to present EKOenergy's Bamboo Award 2022 to Lumme Energia. (on Instagram) |

7. Competitiveness of renewables continued amid the fossil fuel crisis |
IRENA published a new report on the costs and performance of renewable energy. The competitiveness of renewable energy continued in 2021. ⚡️ The lifetime cost per kWh of new solar and wind capacity added in Europe in 2021 will average at least four to six times less than the marginal generating costs of fossil fuels in 2022. ⚡️ Globally, new renewable capacity added in 2021 will reduce electricity generation costs in 2022 by at least USD 55 billion. ⚡️ Between January and May 2022 in Europe, solar and wind generation alone avoided fossil fuel imports of at least USD 50 billion. A reason for hope amidst the climate and energy crises we are facing! |

We at EKOenergy are always enthusiastic to collaborate with new partners. For further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch. |
