Time Out No. #62 | Tuesday 15 June 2021

Amazing, isn’t it? Actually new places to dine. In 2021. It’s enough to make you want to punch the air and scream ‘hooray for London’s resilient food scene’. The fact these places have opened up at what might be described as ‘a challenging time’ means each of them deserves our support.

Including these two stunnas

You won’t find your bog-standard pepperoni at Mike’s pizza – expect flavours like smoked pancetta, artichoke, smoked provola, burrata and salted chilli or pineapple, mozzarella, scotch bonnet onions and mortadella. They even do brunch pizza: eggs, tropea onion and pecorino with ’nduja mascarpone, and eggs, prosciutto, mozzarella and tomato with jalapeños.

Unit 4.1 Copeland Park, 133 Copeland Rd, SE15 3SN.

Expect to see all parts of the bird on the menu at this Soho spot, inspired by the vibe of Japan’s izakayas, as a place to meet for after-work drinks (remember those?) and food. The menu is heavy on yakitori, using every part of the chicken – we’re talking skin, liver, heart, knee bone. For the squeamish, there’s also thigh, breast and wings, plus a selection of small plates.

What is the most elevated spot of land in all of London?

The answer you seek is at the end of this email!

Art. Can’t get enough of it. Makes you cleverer just being near it. Even a tattooed doofus like our art editor Eddy Frankel appears more intelligent when talking about art. Why not bone up on his top 10 art exhibitions in London? If that leaves you thirsty for more, he’s also gone and rounded up the best immersive shows available to visit right now. Still want more? Here’s his favourite photography shows.
