For more than 120 years, the Forward has covered history from a Jewish perspective. That means this week’s Presidential inauguration was one of more than 30 that the Forward has reported on, sharing the news with an independent voice that matters most to American Jews.

As we report on the inauguration of Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States, here’s a look back at inauguration coverage we delivered to you, your parents, grandparents, and even great grandparents!

And in 1965, the Forward shared the news (pictured to the right) that a rabbi would be part of the four clergy chosen to offer benedictions at the inauguration and that concert violinist Isaac Stern would be featured in the traditional inaugural concert. But perhaps the biggest news to Forverts readers was when Lyndon B. Johnson himself concluded his inaugural address by citing the still relevant passage from King Solomon: “Grant me then the wisdom and the knowledge to lead this people, for who can govern Your great people?”
