BALTIMORE: Last week VidCon made a big announcement: Its first-ever East Coast event will take place from Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2023 at the Baltimore Convention Center. VidCon Baltimore will bring the culture of the East Coast creator economy to life, with quality programming across the event’s signature "Community and Industry Tracks," providing attendees sessions and experiences tailored to their specific interests. The convention, which celebrates online videos and its stars, will also return to Anaheim next year for its flagship event June 21-24.
LAS VEGAS: The Bellagio Resort & Casino has something new in store for its fall visitors with the unveiling of the property's conservatory and botanical garden's "Artfully Autumn" display. It comprises of dramatic sculptural pieces; an abundance of fall floral, foliage, and pumpkins; and a new custom fragrance. Open through Nov. 12, the artworks were envisioned by designer Ed Libby and the Bellagio’s horticulture team. The experience pays homage to modern architecture and artists such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, and Louis Comfort Tiffany. James Beard Award-winning pastry chef Dominique Ansel will debut Dominique Ansel Las Vegas inside Caesars Palace on Oct. 21. Chef Ansel will bring his signature creations to The Strip, including his iconic cronut pastry, the best-selling DKA (Dominique’s Kouign Amann), freshly baked French viennoiserie, and the new “Lucky 7” collection, which will be unique to Vegas. Spanning more than 1,100 square feet, Dominique Ansel Las Vegas will offer a retail area and café-style seating for 20.
NEW YORK: Peter Liang and Ricky Liang, father-and-son owners of the beloved Congee Village restaurants in Manhattan's Chinatown and Flushing recently opened Congee Dim Sum House on the Lower East Side at 207 Bowery. Here, they're serving an extensive dim sum menu, Congee Village classics, and rare Chinese ingredients like bird's nest and fish maw. There's also a few private rooms where guests can enjoy dinner and karaoke. SAN ANTONIO: Thompson San Antonio - Riverwalk announced last week the addition of three seasoned hospitality professionals to the hotel in key leadership roles. Eugene Mardell has been appointed general manager; Melanie Bruce has joined as director of sales and marketing; and Natalie Fournier was named director of revenue. The trio will lead hotel operations and strategic sales and marketing initiatives at the luxury lifestyle property overlooking San Antonio’s River Walk.
