Workers surpasses $1.5B in assets
At its annual meeting in Leominster on Thursday, the Fitchburg-based Workers Credit Union reported its assets grew 14.29 percent to $1.51 billion, the highest growth in credit unions across the state, it said.

QCC selects new president
The board of trustees at Quinsigamond Community College has selected Dr. Luis Pedraja to succeed Gail Carberry as the college's next president. Pedraja is currently interim vice chancellor of academic affairs for an Oakland, Calif. community college district that includes four colleges. The state board of higher education is scheduled to vote on his appointment in May.
Keep the church in place
Worcester city councilors and local advocates are pressing for further delay in a possible demolition of the Notre Dame des Canadiens Church, which has been vacant for about a decade. An ordinance delaying demolition could expire as soon as next month.
Retire in Massachusetts?
Bankrate.com named Massachusetts the seventh-best state in the country to retire in, which may be surprising given the state's colder climate and high cost of living. However, Bankrate gave Massachusetts high marks for cultural vitality, health care, and senior's wellbeing.
