El Salvador is evaluating a bill that would regulate digital securities – a sign it is moving forward with issuing Bitcoin-backed bonds.

There is an exception for facilities that use 100% renewable energy. | | The Bank of Japan will launch a central bank digital currency (CBDC) experiment early next year, working with several financial institutions to stress test the CBDC. | The tests will prototype deposits and withdrawals, as well as seek how to function in the absence of an internet connection. A decision to adopt the currency will be made in 2026. |
