2 coronavirus cases suspected in Minnesota; officials prep for spread

Cloudy but quiet weekend. The same mild + cloudy weather remains through the weekend. Some light snow could fall in far southeastern Minnesota and along the North Shore Friday afternoon through Saturday. Other parts of Minnesota will stay dry over the weekend.

Doomsday clock now says “11:58:20” -- just 100 secs to midnight. And it hasn’t been that close to the “doomsday” midnight hour since its launch in 1947, Cold War era. Recent political and diplomatic feuds and a growing number of disasters linked to global climate change were among the reasons for moving the clock even closer to midnight.

Second U.S. case of the new coronavirus from China detected in Midwest. A Chicago woman in her 60s returned from China on Jan. 13 without showing any signs of illness, but a few days later she called her doctor to report feeling sick. She is doing well and remains hospitalized "primarily for infection control," says Dr. Allison Arwady, Chicago's public health commissioner.
