| Learn to control your low point By Nick Pelle, Golf Digest Certified Instructor GOLFTEC Minnetonka, Plymouth, MN | If you have fat or thin strikes, you might be struggling to control the low point of your swing arc. This usually happens when players keep their weight back through the finish. My “Scheffler Shuffle” drill can help you learn to shift your weight properly. Start in your normal setup position and take the club to the top. As you start to swing down, I want you to unload your trail foot by sliding it across the ground and bringing it next to your front foot. This will help you exaggerate the feeling of getting your weight into your front foot during the downswing. You may lose your balance the first few times. That’s ok. Focus on moving your weight toward the target. Once you’ve done that for a few minutes, try hitting a ball with a normal swing. You should notice that your weight shift and contact have improved. | |
