The four largest banks are expected to report a combined $24.4 billion in nonperforming loans for the fourth quarter, up nearly $6 billion compared with Q4 of 2022. A coalition of groups representing payments fintechs are seeking to extend the comment period—scheduled to end today—for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's proposal on oversight of big tech companies' digital wallet and payments services, which would require them to follow the same laws imposed on banks that provide such services. A letter from the group says more time is necessary to study the proposals and that the products that would be subject to such supervision is unclear.
