| John, In 1987, Rick Astley promised he was “Never Gonna Give You Up.” KQED also made a commitment that year. It was the year that we switched KQED Public Radio to an all-news format and committed to becoming the region’s premium source of news programming. That was 35 years ago, and we’re still dedicated to cultivating dialogue through fact-based, local journalism. To celebrate 35 years of bringing you the news on 88.5 FM, a group of anonymous KQED donors has given a special $35,000 challenge grant and will double all donations up to that amount. Donate today and your gift will go twice as far! Member-support makes the radio programs you love available to everyone in our region. Local programs like Forum and The California Report and national programs like Morning Edition and Marketplace are all on the air because of the support of our members. Our radio fundraising drive starts Monday morning, and we’d love to kick it off knowing that we’ve already raised at least $70,000. I hope you’ll take advantage of this early-bird opportunity to double your gift before the drive starts. We also have a special gift bundle for monthly donations of $35 or more: a KQED hoodie, 3 pairs of KQED socks and a surprise KQED logo item!
