The S&P 500 lost 0.6% on Thursday in another down day for US markets. The Nasdaq ended the session with a 0.3% loss, and the Dow fell 0.7%. The small-cap Russell 2K index edged 0.1% higher. Today, futures are on the rise after Chinese regulators announced an unexpected interest rate cut overnight. S&P 500 futures are currently up 1.0%. T Rowe Price Group [TROW] - Last Close: $120.13 T Rowe Price is gaining after a premarket announcement. The investment manager announced this morning that it had appointed Poppy Allonby as its head of Environmental, Social, and Governance Enablement. Allonby's experience includes a stint at BlackRock and time spent as a member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Energy Initiative. TROW is trending on the heels of the announcement. The stock is leading the S&P 500 with a 3.9% gain. MDxHealth SA [MDXH] - Last Close: $7.60 Newly announced clinical progress is rallying shares of MDxHealth. The commercial-stage precision diagnostics company announced that Medicare administrative contractor Palmetto GBA has finalized a foundational local coverage determination for molecular biomarkers to "Risk-Stratify" patients at increased risk for prostate cancer that covers indications for the company's SelectMDx Prostate Cancer test. The decision clears the way for SelectMDx to be adopted from MDxHealth's urology customer base, and inclusion in the NCCN guidelines merits coverage by medicare, according to the company. MDXH is trading actively with an 18.8% gain. Moleculin Biotech Inc [MBRX] - Last Close: $1.29 A buzz is building around Moleculin Biotech that's pushing shares higher. The clinical-stage pharma firm announced yesterday morning that its president and CEO, Walter Klemp, will present at the HC Wainwright Global Investment Conference being held May 23-26 in Miami, FL. The news could be an indication Moleculin is pursuing another round of funding, or the CEO could be planning on making a splash at the conference with a big announcement. Whatever the case, it could provide a key catalyst for the stock in the days ahead. Traders are buying today, so they'll be in prime position in case news breaks as early as Monday. MBRX is currently up 35.7% on active premarket trading volume. Exicure Inc [XCUR] - Last Close: $0.1210 Exicure is rallying on news of bullish insider buying. The biotech firm released a Form4 revealing a director at the company acquired 1,1472,126 new shares of stock at an average price of $0.19 per share. Investors are moving into the stock with hopes the large share purchase could be a signal that the company is in the midst of executing a turnaround. XCUR is this morning's most active stock, and it's up 24.9%. |
