The state is all atwitter in anticipation of who will take home the coveted Californian of the Year award.
The finalist list is tightening with today's announcement of the 4th nominee for the sought-after prize.
One of the great Californian values is government working in the dark, away from the sunshine and without transparency. In a great place like California or Colorado where the elites know what's best for the rabble they control, there is no need for mere commoners nor even the press to worry their pretty little heads over the governmental process. The professionals have it all under control.
The 4th nomination goes to the tag team of Representative Julie McCluskey and Senator Steve Fenberg, who led the effort to exempt the state legislature, meaning themselves, from the state’s open meetings law.
The old Colorado had a proud tradition of government working in the full light of day so that citizens could see “the sausage being made.” So, God bless our Californian overlords who know we don't want to see something so icky, so potentially disturbing, as lawmaking.
These two have bravely saved us from the unpleasantness of open government.
Congratulations Julie! Congratulations Steve! You are on the forefront of turning Colorado into California.
