Furman alumni donate $6.1 million to music department

Furman University alumni Gordon Herring and Sarah Herring, respectively from classes of 1965 and 1966, have pledged $6.1 million to the Furman music department to finance the Herring Music Chair Endowment and the Herring Music Fellowship Fund.

USDA invests millions in S.C. water infrastructure projects

As part of a $891 million investment to modernize rural drinking water and wastewater infrastructure across 43 states, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is investing $29.1 million in five rural water and wastewater projects in Anderson, Chesterfield, Clarendon, Dillon, Florence, Hampton and Williamsburg counties.

S.C. receives $1.14M to increase health care facility safety

The funding is part of a $180 million Centers for Disease Control and Prevention initiative aimed at helping prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in health care facilities nationwide.

Bank of America launches economic mobility program

Bank of America has teamed up with United Ministries as part of its Neighborhood Champion program to provide grant funding and leadership training to enhance economic mobility across the Upstate. United Ministries will receive $50,000 in grant support and the opportunity for virtual leadership training offered by experts in the nonprofit sector. The grant will be used to help provide access to crisis, education, financial and employment services to Upstate individuals and families confronting poverty.
