Happy friday, friends. I’ll let you in on a secret. I don’t love cooking. I do it because I get a lot of pleasure out of eating the foods I love, and I like to know that the ingredients I’m eating are Primal and fresh. But, I prefer to keep my time in the kitchen to a minimum. I wanted to share with you a few cooking shortcuts I’ve learned over the years. Try one or two, and you’ll get a few hours of your week back to spend on something more fun. Make Herb Cubes How often do you buy a bundle of herbs, only to find them limp or slimy within a day or two? Instead of letting them go bad in the back of the refrigerator, chop them up as soon as you bring them home. Then, combine them with avocado oil and freeze them in ice cube trays. Once they’re solid, pop them into a freezer bag, and they’re ready for you to jazz up any recipe without having to chop a thing. Huge time saver and cuts down on food waste, too. Make Ahead Meals When I was building Primal Kitchen and working long days, Carrie and I made a habit of making large batches of soups and stews to divide up into meals for two for the freezer. We would also chop and assemble meals to drop into the slow cooker, or put together casseroles that would go straight from the freezer to the oven. With the two of us chopping, we could easily get 20 or more meals together in a couple of hours. Go Frozen You don’t have to assemble your freezer meals yourself every single time. Every now and again, it’s good to give yourself a break. I developed a frozen line for Primal Kitchen® to give you a satisfying option on those days when you’re short on time, when your focus belongs on other things, and for those times when you just plain don’t feel like putting a lot of effort into preparing food. I wanted to create a way to fuel up quickly without having to think about it. You can reach for a Primal Kitchen frozen bowl or skillet knowing that it contains high quality ingredients like grass-fed beef and cage-free eggs, and none of the stuff you don’t want like grains and industrial seed oils. I recreated my favorite takeout and home-cooked dishes, so that I would look forward to eating them. I think you will too. These aren’t available in every freezer section yet, but you can get them through Thrive Market.
