FRIDAY, AUGUST 16, 2024 TODAY: Partly Cloudy Highs: 87-92 Winds: South 5-10 mph Our weather pattern will start to change with a southerly wind slowly increasing humidity levels. High temperatures will be back into the upper 80s by the afternoon. Latest guidance continues to show no rain in D.C. throughout the day. Highest rain chances today will be in the mountains with a few scattered showers dotting radar. Higher rain chances arrive closer to midnight. TONIGHT: Scattered Showers Lows: 68-75 Winds: South 5 mph Plan for a cloudy, mild, and muggy night ahead with lows in the 70s in many neighborhoods. Scattered showers will develop, so be prepared for some of you to wake up to wet pavement early Saturday morning. SATURDAY: STORM ALERT Mostly Cloudy Scattered Showers and Storms Highs: 83-88 Winds: South 5-10 mph Plan for a more typical mid-August day with high humidity and feels-like temperatures around 90 by the afternoon. A few very early morning showers may make for wet pavement to start the day. Scattered showers and storms are possible during the afternoon and evening hours, so have the umbrella at the ready. Some storms have the capability of producing damaging wind gusts, which is why our team is on a Storm Alert for the afternoon and evening hours. SUNDAY: STORM ALERT Mostly Cloudy Scattered Showers and Storms Highs: 82-87 Winds: Southeast 5-10 mph It will be another warm and humid August day with additional chances for showers and storms. While it won't be a washout, any showers and storms that develop have the potential to bring downpours and damaging wind gusts. Rainfall totals through the weekend could range from .50 - 1.00".
