MONDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2024 TODAY: COLD ALERT Mostly Sunny Highs: 34-39 Winds: NE to SE 5-10 mph It's a frigid start to the day with wake-up temperatures in the teens in most neighborhoods. A hard frost developed overnight, so you may need to scrape or de-frost the car windshield. Plan for a bright, blue sky this morning followed by an increase in high clouds during the afternoon. High temperatures will be a big higher than yesterday, but still 10-15 degrees below the seasonal average. Fortunately, winds will be relatively light, so we won't be too wind-chilled.
TONIGHT: Partly Becoming Mostly Cloudy Lows: 24-30 Winds: South 5 mph It will be another freezing cold night, but temperatures will be higher than Sunday night. Overnight lows will fall into the 20s with an increase in clouds. Plan for overcast skies by dawn Tuesday.
CHRISTMAS EVE TUESDAY: WINTER ALERT Morning Rain, Snow Showers Afternoon Sunshine Highs: 40-45 Winds: Light and Variable Our next weather maker will move into the region early in the morning bringing a chance for rain, freezing rain, and snow. Since it's been so cold, we'll have to watch road conditions for possible icy spots. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. for possible road impacts. There isn't a lot of moisture with this front, but enough to impact roadways. With it being such a busy travel day, make sure to use extra caution on area roads. Skies will brighten during the afternoon with more seasonable highs in the mid 40s.
