A crime unpunished: People choked by a partner are 750% more likely to be murdered by that partner, yet a new report by the New Orleans Health Department has found that only eight perpetrators in 349 domestic strangulation incidents in 2022 were convicted. Now the two parties have agreed to drop that figure by more than $100 million. But will that placate the critics? Tony McAuley has this report on how the price dropped so sharply. Rate hike: Entergy Louisiana, the dominant utility for much of Louisiana outside of New Orleans, wants to raise electricity rates on customers by more than 5%. But the request comes as customers and state officials are increasingly skeptical of Entergy's pricing and performance, and as Sam Karlin reports, state regulators may have other ideas.
