SpaceX's Starlink Mini internet antenna gets wider availability

β€Š

The Starlink Mini kit includes a built-in Wi-Fi router enabling internet access anywhere in the U.S.

β€Š

SpaceX has increased the availability of its mobile mini antenna for its space-based Starlink internet service, ZDNet reported.

SpaceX boss Elon Musk announced the device in June, claiming that it's quick to set up and can be easily carried in a backpack. He also included a purported speed test for the connection, showing a 100 Mbps download speed, an 11.5 Mbps upload speed, and a 23ms latency.

When the device launched, you had to have a residential Starlink subscription to sign up, but SpaceX has now removed that requirement, opening the Starlink Mini to everyone ...

You can now transfer your entire Google Photos library to iCloud

β€Š

In 2021, Apple began allowing users to easily move their photos from iCloud to Google Photos. Finally, the reverse of that is now possible

β€Š

Apple and Google have launched a new data portability tool that lets you easily transfer your Google Photos to iCloud Photos, 9to5Mac reported. The reverse has been possible for the last three years.

It’s part of the Data Transfer Project, an open-source initiative focused on data portability between different online platforms.

Commenting on the development, the Data Transfer Initiative said the new tool will be rolling out globally over the next week. Apple and Google have both published support articles explaining the process of transferring image collections from Google Photos to iCloud Photos ...

Hands-on with Urbanista's new Palo Alto earbuds

β€Š

The buds cost just $99 and offer 45 hours of battery life with the case

β€Š

The new Urbanista Palo Alto earbuds are the latest ones to offer Active Noise Canceling (ANC) at an affordable price, Lifewire reported.

The buds comes in Cloud White and Dusk Purple and feature a stem design that makes them look a bit like Apple’s AirPod Pros, especially the white option. They come with several different sizes of earbud tips to ensure a comfortable fit.

The sound is described as β€œrich and smooth,” and the touch controls on the stems can be set to control the volume or other features with a simple tap. Conveniently, they also offer in-ear detection that pauses what you’re listening to the moment that you remove one of the buds from your ear ...

Fly Me to the Moon aiming to be the most popular new movie this weekend

β€Š

The other serious competition comes from Longlegs, but the overall winner is likely to be a movie in its second week of release

β€Š

Fly Me to the Moon is predicted to win the box office this weekend among new movies, Variety reported.

Set in the 1960s, the space race-inspired flick starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum is estimated to take in $12 million at the North American box office over the weekend. Β

The other big move debuting today is Longlegs, a horror-thriller featuring Nicolas Cage as a serial killer and Maika Monroe as the FBI agent on his trail. But it’s the wildly popular Despicable Me 4 animated film that seems likely to top the charts again in its second weekend of release ...

Apple’s gaming push is heating up faster than you think

β€Š

But one of its challenges is to persuade enough partners to launch their games on Apple devices at the same time as other platforms

β€Š

A few years back, Apple showed off No Man’s Sky running smoothly on a MacBook as a way to demonstrate its early efforts to push into gaming. It looked great, but it wasn’t exactly earth-shattering.

Years later, Apple’s plans are coming into greater focus, even if they still aren’t fully realized yet, Digital Trends reported. At a recent and more impressive demo, Apple showed off several more games, including brand new ones, this time running on devices that included the MacBook Air M3 and a 13-inch iPad Pro M4.

β€œWhile we’re still a long ways away from the App Store being up to snuff with Steam on Windows, I’m starting to see where gaming on iOS is headed β€” and Apple is getting there faster than I expected,” the report said ...
