Chaos in Kenner: Three Kenner police officers and two civilians were wounded in a shooting-turned-standoff that brought a Kenner neighborhood to a standstill for nearly eight hours on Sunday. The alleged shooter, 31-year-old Matthew Lathers, was holed up in a house on Farm Avenue for hours before he was killed by a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office sniper. Michelle Hunter and Joni Hess have more from the chaotic scene and its aftermath. Insurance lawsuit: The investors who poured more than $60 million into Lighthouse Insurance Co. before it went belly-up after Hurricane Ida are suing the firm and its executives, alleging a complex web of fraud involving a family trust, affiliated companies and a Florida bank. Sam Karlin has the details from the lawsuit and what it could mean for other failed insurers. A new constitution? Gov. Jeff Landry’s arch-conservative agenda is advancing with few bumps through the House, but whether all of it will also meet a friendly reception in the Senate remains uncertain.
