The Shakers were a traditional American Protestant community, renowned throughout the design world for their pared-down 19th-century furniture and their sense of household organization. A feeling for pure design that made Shaker style a forerunner of functionalism. Today, this trend is taking over interiors, creating a return to fundamentals with a poetic touch.
