A great catch

Since the middle of 2022, Oceana Group has rallied by approximately 55%. Goodness knows it isn't easy to time the market, but the rewards are wonderful when you get it right. The rally has been justified by the latest results, with strong growth in sales volumes and a particularly good result in the US. When translated to rands, those numbers look even better.

The rand is struggling now

Even with a weaker dollar, our currency was stuck in the R18.35 to R18.50 range. Local issues are plaguing the rand, opening up a potential test of the 2022 high of R18.58. This is a concern.

TreasuryONE notes that local data has been mixed, with a trade deficit of R23 billion and a slight improvement in the unemployment rate. Overall, our economy isn't looking great at the moment.
