Hello reader,

Welcome to my monthly newsletter.

Just when we thought we might be starting to come out of the worst of the pandemic, we have seen further restrictions imposed on our lives as the number of cases have risen alarmingly.

There has been a lot of confusion around what we are allowed to do - what is against the law and what is guidance - so we have produced this handy guide to help make it a little bit easier for you. The information has come from the Director of Public Health, so we are sure it is correct! In case you missed it, here it is...

Many of us took advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme in August and one Preston-based chain of Italian restaurants is planning to bring it back for October. A bit of good news among the doom and gloom....

We said goodbye to two Preston legends during the month. Popular market trader Gary Singh died at 53 and the legendary 'potato man' Keith Roberts also died, aged just 43. We will all miss them both and remember them as a part of Preston's history.

We love a bit of nostalgia here at lep.co.uk and this fine piece took us right back to what Preston looked like in the 1960s - and the shops we loved to visit when we were young. It's only when you look back at some of these old pictures and that you can appreciate how much has changed in our city.

And finally, if you want a look at the house you might buy if you win the Lottery, this amazing place in the Lake District might just fit the bill.

I wish you and your loved ones all the best over the coming weeks.

Until next time, take care and stay safe.

Gillian
