Dear Educators, I’ve always believed that education is the single most important endeavor of the human race, and this belief feels more pertinent today than ever before. Teaching has been challenging, especially in recent years, and I want to personally express my gratitude for all that you do. The role you play in your students’ lives is incredibly important and can’t be replaced.
Since we started Edutopia 33 years ago, there have been significant shifts in the world of education. But one thing stands firm: Your ability to guide, coach, and offer both literal and figurative “pats on the back”—gestures of encouragement and positive reinforcement—provides an invaluable human connection that’s instrumental in encouraging academic growth, emotional development, and lifelong learning in students. As we observe Teacher Appreciation Week, it is my sincere hope that you receive the recognition you so richly deserve. May the force be with you, always. George Lucas Edutopia Founder and Filmmaker P.S. Edutopia remains dedicated to providing resources and inspiration to enrich your work. Our team hopes you’ll join us in thanking your fellow teachers this week with the materials we’ve created found here.
