A new performing arts center is needed in Lafayette, regardless of location, tourism CEO says

By ADAM DAIGLE | Acadiana Business Editor

Good morning, Acadiana. Let's get down to business this Thursday morning.

When the decision is made to replace the Heymann Center somewhere in Lafayette, either of the two locations — downtown or next to the Cajundome — would be beneficial, said Ben Berthelot, president and CEO of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission. One thing would help the debate, he said: find a way to connect the area of UL athletics to downtown Lafayette.

"I always say we would all walk that distance from the Cajundome to downtown in any major city – New York, New Orleans, Austin. You would call me crazy if I asked you to walk from the Cajundome to downtown."

You can read the story here.

Have a great day and see you back here Friday morning.
