A new home for City Hall? For years, proposals to move City Hall out of its current building and into more suitable environs have run aground. The latest attempt would involve a land swap with the state. There is, of course, a sticking point. Tyler Bridges has the details.
Gordon Plaza profit: One of the first buyouts intended to compensate Gordon Plaza residents, who unwittingly made their home atop a former toxic dump decades ago, went to a daycare operator who purchased a home there only 18 months ago, netting herself a $250,000 profit. Meanwhile, the family who had lived there since 1982 and have lost multiple family members to cancer only got the $55,000 they sold it for. Roshaun Higgins and Joseph Cranny have their story.
Dumping iron: Authorities said Tuesday that the roughly $300,000 in iron beams stolen over the weekend from the Five O Fore driving range project at the former Times-Picayune building on Howard Avenue were recovered at the Uptown Recycling scrapyard a mere 10 blocks away. Gabriella Killett has the details.
