On a September evening in 2022, baker Annie Wang was walking down the street in Oakland, feeling tired but accomplished after her feat of shipping boxes of mooncakes all over California for the first time. “I was thinking it's crazy that there are so many people right now who are eating something that I literally made with my own hands,” she says

.

With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching on September 29, 2023, Annie is preparing for this year’s push for mooncake orders and reflecting on her journey so far. Since starting Annie’s T Cakes in 2020, Annie has been honing her baking and business skills to diversify the food scene and make environmentalism irresistible in the form of her classic East Asian treats.

Ferry Plaza Farmers Market: Featured Vendors

Flying Disc Ranch is back on Saturdays with freshly harvested dates! On their ranch in Thermal, Robert Lower and his sons tend to several different varieties, including Amber, Barhi, and Medjool.

The Sciabica family has been farming the same land since 1925. Their olive oils are 100% extra virgin, unrefined, and cold-pressed on their farm. Visit them on Saturdays to add some kick to your summer caprese salads.

Mission Community Market: Featured Vendors

Avila Farms is a family-run farm in Hollister, California. At their Mission stand on Thursdays, browse through one dollar bags of seasonal fruits and vegetables, like tomatoes, peppers, leafy greens, and lemons.

Coastside Specialties' fish comes from Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, and their products are only available in a few farmers markets. Pick up smoked salmon and trout at the Mission market on Thursdays.
