Tribute to Iconic "JAWS" Artist Roger Kastel What are investors and collectors REALLY putting their money on? In the world of classic movie poster art some people collect movie posters of their favorite film, or actor, or maybe other nostalgic connections. And then others collect for the beauty of the Art. Personally, it is the appeal of the art and the film. And I particularly enjoy poster art from famous artists. . That’s why yesterday was a sad day when I discovered that JAWS poster artist Roger Kastel had passed away last week. Apparently not even the media knew of his passing until a few days ago as the NY Times obit announced it last Friday . Roger was celebrated artist and was even commission by George Lucas to do the stunning art for the “Empire Strikes Back” movie poster. But, it will always be his JAWS masterpiece that will be most revered for and highly desirable for generations to come. You can Google his NY Times obituary which goes into much more detail about this extraordinary man. . This past week we acquired some great Vintage Movie and Sports Treasures, you can see in the NEW PRODUCTS Gallery. Including this newly acquired “Creature from Black Lagoon”. . Have a Great Thanksgiving. .
