Sexton steps forward: A late scratch to George Hill meant that rookie point guard Collin Sexton got his first NBA start on Wednesday night against the Thunder. The Cavs lost, 95-86, dropping their record to 1-10. But Sexton led the team in scoring with 15 points. And cleveland.com's Chris Fedor liked what he saw from Sexton. "He attacked the basket with force and finished with both hands. He ran the offense well enough. Most importantly, he was on the floor as the Cavaliers were making their late push," Fedor wrote. Easing up on the rookie: Cavaliers coach Larry Drew apparently wasn't happy with how the locker room was treating Sexton. After reports surfaced of players criticizing the rookie point guard, Drew said after Wednesday night's game that he wanted his players to be more patient with Sexton. "As I told a couple of the guys, hey you were 19 at one point. To step up to this level, I'm sure you would've been in a situation where you were making mistakes too. In order for Collin to learn, he's going to have to make mistakes," Drew told reporters including cleveland.com's Chris Fedor. Read more.

Injuries piling up: Not only are the losses piling up for the Cavs, but so are the injuries. The Cavs are already without Kevin Love and Sam Dekker for a couple weeks each. But Hill was a scratch on Wednesday, and Cedi Osman left the game and did not return due to back spasms. Another draft to watch: The NBA was criticized for not televising the All-Star Game player draft last season. But that looks like it will be a one-season trend. Marc Stein of the New York Times reported that the NBA will televise this year's draft. The new format of the All-Star Game that was introduced last year has two captains and a pool of players for them to pick from. Now, the draft will be televised. Read more.
