In today’s lead story, Maria Korolov examines how the broad capabilities of digital twins combined with AI aren’t only creating possibilities for the enterprise that seemed inconceivable not long ago, but will underpin more than 25% of strategic business decisions by 2032, according to Gartner. What’s referred to now as intelligent simulation, this joining of forces is also predicted to reveal billions in operational savings within the next couple of years.
Of course, digital twins are already being used with AI in a range of industries, like replicating organs in healthcare, construction projects, and IT infrastructure. And the reciprocal benefits of digital twins and AI combining, and amplifying the potential of each, is also showing how synthetic data can be used as connective tissue to fill gaps.
“We’re using digital twins to generate information for large language models,” says Scott Likens, emerging technology leader at PwC. “We see opportunity to have the digital twins generate the missing pieces of data we need, and it’s more in line with the environment because it’s based on actual data.”
