We hope you’re having an enjoyable summer, whether on holidays or at home. This summer we are excited to share with you some news that concern UBI not only in Europe, but also globally! Keep reading for news on the BIEN Congress in Seoul, our report from the European Youth Event 2023, our upcoming study visit in Barcelona, coordinating a campaign around the European Parliamentary election, the International Basic Income Week 2023, and an online screening of "Free Money", a documentary on GiveDirectly's basic income mission in Kenya followed by a Q&A with the directors.

UBIE at the BIEN Congress 2023 |
UBIE members will be present at the 22nd BIEN Congress in Seoul, which is just about to begin! Among others, our very own Antonios Triantafyllakis, will be there with a double mission: - As Chair of UBIE, he will be the face of our organisation in one of the most prominent global events on unconditional basic income, and connect with key stakeholders in the basic income ecosystem to take our mission forward.
- As member of the Basic Income Research & Action Lab (BIRAL), a network of researchers and activists dedicated to analysing and advocating for Basic Income systems and pilots worldwide, he will conduct interviews with decision-makers involved in local basic income pilots for BIRAL's “Voices of Basic Income” podcast.
Keep an eye on our social media channels, as you may notice some live updates from the Congress! Given the opportunity, we would like to remind you of our fundraiser to help cover the expenses for the participation of members of BIRAL at the Congress. Adonation of any size can support their mission to make Basic Income a reality and empower their research and action efforts. |

Barcelona Study Visit A study day on October 19 for decision-makers from European municipalities to Barcelona will focus on opportunities for implementing local UBI experiments similar to the Renda Bàsica Universal programme in Catalonia. Whom should we invite? Make your suggestion |
European Parliament election campaign In May 2024 the next European Parliament Elections will take place. UBIE activists will use this period of enhanced political awareness to bring proposals for steps towards a UBI at European level into the public debate.
