The Krishnamurti Center is designed to be a sanctuary for the study and contemplation of Krishnamurtiâs teachings...
Dear Friends,
The Krishnamurti Center stands at a defining moment. For over a decade, we have been preparing to expand our facilities, creating a space where serious inquiry and deep study of Krishnamurtiâs teachings can flourish. I invite you to watch this short video where I share more about this expansion project and how you can be part of it.
At the heart of our mission is the commitment to provide a space for profound exploration and study. Yet today, our Center can accommodate only six overnight guests and lacks a dedicated space to serve mealsâan essential component of fostering meaningful dialogue and community. Our vision for expansion includes:
Expanding residential accommodations: To support our growing Residential Scholar Program, we need to build two cottages with 12 rooms to accommodate extended study stays.
Creating a dining space: Without a permitted kitchen or dining facility, we cannot provide meals for retreat participants and scholars, a crucial element for a truly immersive experience. That is why our plans include building a commercial kitchen and dining space.
As we launched our capital campaign to fund this expansion, an unexpected opportunity aroseâthe possibility to purchase a fully functioning 5-acre retreat center adjacent to Oak Grove School. This property borders 150 acres of open space owned by KFA and overlooks the very land where Krishnamurti once spoke. The property is currently used by the Ojai Retreat.
The property presents an immediate solution to many of our expansion needs, allowing us tohost programs without the long and involved process of new construction. However, the window to act is small as the property might be on the market soon, and we do not yet know if we can raise the necessary funds in time.
Because of this, the KFA Board has adopted a two-pronged approach:
We continue fundraising to expand the Krishnamurti Center by building on our existing campus.
At the same time, we are making every effort to purchase the existing retreat property.
No matter the outcome, our purpose remains unchangedâto create a space where people can come together for inquiry, contemplation, and connection. If the purchase of this property does not come to fruition, the funds will instead be used for the development of the Krishnamurti Center at the East End campus.
We seek visionary partners who recognize the enduring significance of Krishnamurtiâs teachings and wish to support the expansion of the Krishnamurti Center. To realize this vision, we aim to raise $4.5 million.
If Krishnamurtiâs work has touched your life, we invite you to be part of this transformative effort. To learn more or to make a contribution, please click here or contact us at development@kfa.org.
