False promises, real theft: Technology has made a lot of things easier, and unfortunately, that includes scamming people. Turns out someone has created a fake university with a logo and design elements similar the University of New Orleans and has been cheating aspiring students out of thousands of dollars. Union vote: The Starbucks Coffee shop on Maple Street has become the first of the Seattle-based chain's Louisiana locations to vote to unionize, as employees seek leverage to improve pay, sick time policy and staffing levels. Abortion ban: At the state capitol, legislators sent legislation to the governor that would ban most terminations of pregnancies — including ones that result from rape or incest — in Louisiana if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe vs. Wade later this summer as expected.
