There was controversy at the gymnastics meet (along with an LSU loss). There was fire and fury from Kim Mulkey at the SEC women’s basketball tournament (along with an LSU loss). And there’s a showdown looming for Will Wade’s team in its regular-season finale against Alabama on Saturday morning at the PMAC. But on a busy, busy weekend in the LSU sporting world, the biggest moment may have come in an early-season thriller at Minute Maid Park in Houston, where the LSU baseball team rallied (more than once) to stun Oklahoma in the 11th inning Friday night, thanks to a walk-off solo homer by Jordan Thompson. Before Thompson's heroics, the Tigers had to rally multiple times to set up his moment in the lights. You can read more about it in Leah Vann’s game story from Houston. LSU will face Texas on Saturday night, then finish the weekend with Baylor on Sunday night. If you want to watch, here’s how. If you can’t watch, you can always follow along with us. As for LSU athletics, the action didn’t end there. The LSU softball team split a doubleheader with Troy on Friday, losing the first game and winning the nightcap. Here’s how it all went down. Also: It’s beach volleyball season. LSU is at home for the first time this weekend — and this year’s team is considerably different from last year’s team, which took advantage of so much experience to reach the NCAA nationals in Gulf Shores, Alabama. More basketball news: You can see where the LSU men (and the rest of the SEC) stand in tournament projections as the regular season winds down. If you’re looking for women’s projections, as well, here they are. FINALLY: HERE’S A GREAT DEAL As you can see, springtime is busy time.
