Good morning and thanks for starting your week with us. Here are some of today's top headlines. Victory at last: Six days after the Saints fired coach Dennis Allen and installed special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi as the interim head coach, they snapped a seven-game losing streak by beating the rival Atlanta Falcons 20-17. Here's how they did it and here's what Rizzi had to say about losing his balance after the game. UpStairs Lounge: A replacement for a stolen bronze plaque that honored 32 victims of the UpStairs Lounge fire — one of the deadliest mass killings of LGBTQ+ people in the U.S. — will soon be installed at the historic French Quarter site. The man accused of prying the original plaque off the sidewalk is still sitting in jail. Missy Wilkinson has the details. Save a Lot: When grocer Brandon Trosclair took over nine local Save a Lot stores in 2021, his plan was to remodel and rebrand them as community grocery stores. Three years later, most of the stores sit shuttered after evictions and at least four lawsuits alleging hundreds of thousands of dollars of unpaid rent and other fees. Desiree Stennett has this look at what happened. Thanks for reading. Check back for more news, entertainment and sports from The Times-Picayune. Kasey |
