Lack of housing supply keeps sellers' market going The demand for homes in and around cities nationwide still outstrips supply, as sales continue to close despite rising mortgage rates and inflation, according to a MarketWatch analysis of realtor.com® data. Housing starts fell in Nov. amid higher mortgages Elevated mortgage rates weighed on the market in November, with single-family housing starts falling to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 828,000, down 4.1%.
