Editor's note: The first night of Rosh Hashanah 2020 was, sadly, disrupted by news of the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Ginsburg, an icon of the Jewish world and the political left, held a unique place in our culture. Her passing prompted an outpouring of grief and reflections on the uncertain state of the legal system she'd worked so hard to change.

In the Hebrew calendar, this evening marks a year since Ginsburg's death — her first yahrtzeit. To honor this moment, we're sharing some new pieces reflecting on her loss, along with three essays we published in the immediate aftermath of her death. May her memory be for a blessing.
