AB Espresso: New Palm Jebel Ali infrastructure contracts

Dubai-based master developer Nakheel has awarded contracts for infrastructure construction at Palm Jebel Ali, the company said in an emailed statement on Sunday. The contract for a public access road from Sheikh Zayed Road to Palm Jebel Ali, and a construction road serving the Palm’s central area, went to DBB Contracting LLC. DBB Contracting and Dutco Construction are UAE-based civil and marine contractors.

Meanwhile, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed major improvements to the internal roads and lighting in the Al Qusais Industrial areas 1 to 5, as well as in several residential areas across Dubai, RTA said in a statement on Sunday.

Aside from this, the number of Emirati citizens working in the private sector in the UAE has reached over 100,000 for the first time, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai said. This represents a significant increase compared to previous years, as 70,000 Emiratis joined the private sector in just the past two and a half years, Sheikh Mohammed said.

In other news, a cafeteria in Abu Dhabi has been shut down after authorities discovered insects in the food preparation area. The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) announced the closure of Spot Karak Cafeteria on Saturday.

In Saudi Arabia, the kingdom has announced the first tourist destination in Yanbu City. Baheej Tourism Development Company, a joint venture between ASFAR, the Saudi tourism investment company owned by PIF, and the Tamimi-AWN Alliance, has announced the development of the waterfront area of the Royal Commission at Yanbu.
