Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Dubai Metro with a series of events and initiatives. Under the theme ’15 Years on Track,’ the celebration aims to engage residents and visitors alike, RTA said in a statement. The anniversary festivities are backed by several sponsors, including Keolis-MHI as the Strategic Partner, alongside LEGO Middle East, LEGOLAND Dubai, IGLOO, Al Jaber Gallery, and Emirates Post as Campaign Partners.

Meanwhile, Arabian Business also took a look at the history of Emirates Airline. In 1985, a visionary idea took flight, forever changing the world of global aviation. Emirates Airline was born from the ambition of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and launched by Sir Maurice Flanagan in five months with $10 million seed funding to simply “look good, be good and make money.”

On the real estate front, Nakheel, part of Dubai Holding Real Estate, has awarded a contract worth AED810 million ($221 million approximately) to Jan De Nul Dredging LTD for marine works on Palm Jebel Ali. The project, part of Dubai’s expanding real estate landscape, will see the Belgian company undertake dredging, land reclamation, beach profiling and sand placement.

In other news, Abu Dhabi is undergoing a major transformation as it invests billions into new construction projects to boost tourism, diversify its economy, and attract global talent. The Guggenheim Museum, set to be 12 times larger than its New York counterpart, and other cultural landmarks like the Zayed National Museum are part of a $10 billion initiative to enhance the city’s cultural appeal.

In Saudi Arabia, Riyadh Municipality has unveiled the initial phase of the Riyadh Parking project as it makes space for tens of thousands of vehicles in the city. The initiative aims to improve the quality of life by organising public parking, reducing cases of illegal parking, and facilitating the flow of traffic. This first phase involves establishing and managing over 24,000 parking spots on streets, as well as managing over 140,000 parking spots in residential neighbourhoods.
