Abandoned infant found alive and well

with Jennifer Wadsworth | Assistant metro editor

Good morning! Let's take a spin through some of the top headlines in Baton Rouge today.

'The baby was tough'

A baby abandoned overnight in a field along Plank Road was discovered alive and healthy Wednesday after an hours-long search by police and first responders on the ground and a helicopter overhead.

Finding the infant unscathed, an EMS spokesman said, was nothing short of "a miracle."

"The baby was tough," he added.

Here's James Finn with the latest.

Brian Kelly's new home

Rental help for Baton Rouge

Some $10 million in rental assistance was OK'd for Baton Rouge residents Wednesday and another $33 million could be approved next week as the EBR Metro Council continues to seek state and federal money to help households still struggling to pay rent and utilities due to pandemic-related hardships. Terry Jones has the details.
