Though it’s been several years since the release of the infamous sepsis-3 definition, this troublesome diagnosis remains front and center on CDI professionals’ radars. And for good reason. When asked about their top denied diagnoses on the 2019 CDI Week Industry Survey, nearly 70% gave sepsis the number one spot. It’s also CDI professionals’ top queried diagnosis when it comes to clinical validation, according to the survey. While this diagnosis may be giving CDI professionals symptoms of altered mental status, ACDIS members have access to a number of resources to help them tackle everyone’s favorite topic, including: A September/October 2019 CDI Journal article on developing and implementing organizational clinical definitions Guidance from the ACDIS CDI Regulatory Committee on developing effective sepsis queries A May/June 2019 CDI Journal article on sepsis documentation requirements for accurate coding Numerous sample sepsis queries included in the ACDIS Resource Library A 2019 ACDIS Conference presentation on untangling the sepsis web Access to other ACDIS members nationwide on the ACDIS Forum to get tough sepsis quandaries answered …and more! We hope that you’ll join the ACDIS ranks today and take advantage of these great ACDIS member resources! Members also have access to new bimonthly CDI Journal issues and the full archives, weekly advice in the CDI Strategies e-newsletter, advice and leadership from the ACDIS Advisory Board, Quarterly Conference Calls on industry topics, the ever-growing Resource Library, and more!
