While Canberrans welcomed news that the week long closure of garbage tips was over, they have been warned not to get too excited as the after effects of the strike would linger for a while longer. Tip gates remained locked with mountains of rubbish dumped outside the entrances from members of the public desperate to be rid of their rubble.
