Europe's rivers and lakes are under attack. Act now and help us #ProtectWater, our most treasured resource.
60% of Europe’s rivers, streams, lakes and wetlands are not healthy. For generations, we have destroyed and polluted them, and used too much water irresponsibly. If we go on this way, it will affect everything - from the smallest things in our daily lives, to keeping entire industries going. It will also affect countless species that need these ecosystems to survive. The sources of Europe’s water are protected – but many EU governments want to weaken this crucial legislation. We need to take action now to save our rivers, lakes, and wetlands.
Healthy rivers, lakes and wetlands are home to some of the richest biodiversity on the planet. They house a colossal 15,000 different species of fish (that’s around 45% of all fish species on the planet!), as well as birds, mammals and insects. But these ecosystems are the most threatened on the planet, and their wildlife has declined by an alarming 83% since 1970. We need to act NOW. Join the #ProtectWater campaign to secure our most treasured resource!
