How to Make a D-Engine Spacer

So you have a kit with a long E-engine hook in it. But you want to fly a shorter D motor in it. Since it is too short, what do you do? The answer is to put a spacer into the engine mount ahead of the shorter rocket engine. But where do you get a spacer if you don't have one?

In this week's video, Tim's daughter Ashley walks you through the process of creating spacers to adapt an E size engine hook to a D size motor. These spacers are easy to use and do not require a permanent installation, meaning you can fly a D size motor on your first flight and quickly and easily swap to an E size motor for your second. This can add some variety to your mid-power rocket collection.

Ashley is the daughter of Tim Van Milligan and an accomplished rocketeer in her own right. Having been immersed in rocketry from a young age, Ashley developed quite the capable toolkit. She has been featured in a variety of rocketry publications and has experienced success in domestic and international competitions alike.
