Getting to the heart of Joint Commission changes on completed applications

The Joint Commission recently made changes to three Medical Staff chapter requirements. Two elements of performance (EP) have been revised and one has been deleted, effective as of July 1. In this article, CRCJ will focus on the changes from MS.06.01.05, EP 11 regarding where to include language on completed application turnaround times.

Tracking form for new applications and reapplications

When reviewing your team’s application process, consider where problems often arise that slow down the processing time. Some delays are due to staffing issues in the medical staff services department that can inhibit timely processing and hinder medical staff department chairs’ ability to review credentials files in a timely manner.
