A wonderful weekend ahead. Aside from a few flurries in northern Minnesota, the entire state is looking at a quiet, warm weekend. This Saturday, in the Twin Cities we’ll have highs in the lower 40s. Southern Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin will reach the lower 40s, with mainly upper 30s elsewhere. Judge allows some Northern Metal operations to resume. A Ramsey County judge ruled to allow Northern Metal Recycling to continue accepting scrap metal at its facility in north Minneapolis, despite a massive fire last week at the company’s Becker facility. The judge rejected arguments by the MPCA and environmentalists that the Minneapolis facility poses an “imminent and substantial threat” to the public. How schools are preparing for a possible COVID-19 outbreak. As Minnesota school officials scramble to comply with federal and state guidance to prepare for a potential outbreak, some say their experience with extreme weather gives them an advantage. They also want to emphasize that warnings about the spread of COVID-19 are meant to help everyone prepare — not panic. A big part of that preparation is reminding kids good health practices like covering when you cough and washing your hands. NPR recently put together a comic just for kids that spreads that message.
